Chinese Herbal Medicine Sheds New Light on Allergy and Cold
Allergic rhinitis (commonly called hay fever) is an inflammation or
irritation of the mucous membranes that line the nose. Common symptoms
include sneezing; a stuffy or runny nose; itchy eyes, nose and throat; and
watery eyes. Patients may also have a nasal voice, breathing noisily,
and sleep with snores;
in addition, they feel chronically fatigued; have little or no appetite,
nauseated after food intake, then have frequent
headaches. Some even experience difficulty in hearing or smelling.
Allergic disorders of the nose are very common and affect almost 2 out of
every 10 people. This allergic problem is often regarded as a rather
trivial
condition, but the truth is that the consequences of this illness may
produce many other physical problems.
The nasal allergic problems result from the interaction of common inhaled
allergens with specialized cells called mast cells in the nasal mucous
membrane. This reaction results in the release of powerful chemical
substances of inflammationone of the best known is histamine. These
substances
cause very severe swelling of the mucous membrane lining the nasal
passages,
intense itching and sneezing and, therefore, the accumulation of copious
amounts of watery
mucus.
Antihistamines are medications that block the action of histamines and
relieve allergy symptoms. Are there any natural substances like
antihistamine that stop the reaction of the nasal mucous? The answer is
YES.
I had a clinical trial around 1989 at Nanjing University of Traditional
Chinese Medicine (China). Patients who joined the clinical trial had been
diagnosed with allergic rhinitis, cold. Over 100 patients tried Sniff &
Relief (SR) generated by natural herbs, patients who used it simply
sniffed it
without other medications. Most of them had satisfactory results.
Through the clinical trial, we found SR has antihistaminelike functions,
to
stop and/or reduce symptoms of allergy; had antivirallike function; helpt
reducing headache and had no antihistaminelike side affects.
Ms. Gladys had allergic rhinitis with sneezing, watery nasal discharge,
nasal congestion and headaches for several years. After she used SR for
310
minutes, her symptoms were greatly reduced. Headaches were gone.
A patient who was diagnosed with lupus and had lungs/heart
dysfunction frequently caught cold. Whenever she had a cold, she
couldn't breathe and had to go to E.R. to have oxygen support. During our
treatment of her lupus, we prescribed SR for her to sniff in order to
prevent cold
and flu. That helped too boost her immune resistance to colds and flu.
Afterwards, she didn't incur a cold
even when her coworkers all suffered from seasonal colds.
SR inhibits virus and has airborne antihistamine functions. It is very
convenient for people, especially children who resent cough mixture or
other medication liquid/pills. Simply sniff the scented pouch, then
symptoms of allergy and cold will reduce or disappear. SR has been
used in clinic for many a years, and has absolutely no side affects.
